la times:
"Many settlers believe Gaza was land given to Jews by God. But after long championing the settler movement, Sharon concluded that Israel had no choice but to relinquish the seaside strip, where settlers lived in heavily fortified communities among more than 1.3 million Palestinians."
bbc:
'"It's good for Israel, it's good for the Palestinians, it's good for peace," he said.
Settlers in some farming communities were seen burning their greenhouses and homes rather than leave them to the Palestinians. One man took a sledgehammer to the walls of his home.'
It's interesting to see the biased nod to the Jewish community in the LA times. Certainly there are plenty of Jews down there, I guess I just failed to realize before their implicit support from local media streams... especially after most media coverage gave full support to pulling US funds out of Israel a few years ago. As always, I am ironically surprised by the LA Times' overly-simplified perspective and overt sensationalism.
However, it's also interesting to see the BBC support the creation of another ethno-centric state as a progressive solution to the continued violence in Paslestine.
